The Age of Oil.
In this short essay, an introduction to the issue, which had a focus on oil, Dr. Jerzy Wojciechowski reviewed the enormous energy content of oil, a content that means the average Canadian or American enjoys access to the energy equivalent of about 300 slaves through his or her oil consumption. This had facilitated vast advancements in transport, research, construction, education, medicine, and most physical aspects of society. Indeed, it has allowed humanity to experience population growth reminiscent of a bacterial colony than a primate. This advance has been very unequal, with benefits being far less evident in the Third World.
Humanity will not remain in the age of oil for long, however, for peak oil will soon arrive for all countries.
