Time: Dec 7, 2022 13:30 Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Summary:
Raymond will provide an update to the current EV situation in Canada and the rest of the world. There have been significant changes on a number of fronts over the last 6 months. Market share continues to rapidly increase as more models are being announced and released. The US IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) will continue to have a significant impact on vehicle availability in the short and medium term. New battery chemistries are being introduced to market. These new batteries will help overcome shortages of lithium, nickel and cobalt as well as reduce battery prices. The heavy duty EVs space is heating up with many in market offerings.
Biography:
Raymond is retired from a long career in IT, where he progressed from junior to leadership roles over his 30 years in the industry. He attended Al Gore’s Climate Reality project leadership course, which reignited his passion for helping others shift to a more sustainable lifestyle. He splits his time between advocating for EVs, talking climate change, and volunteering for the Red Cross. Raymond has always been interested in environmental issues, and that led him to purchase an EV almost ten years ago as well as retire early to pursue his environmental passion. Soon after, he got involved with EV owner’s groups, where he now occupies the (volunteer) position of President of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO). EVCO has been a key partner in the “EV Experience” which has delivered over 1,000 EV test drives in the Ottawa area in 2022.
Raymond has recently reached a milestone of having a completely CO2 free house (except the BBQ)! Everything including cars, heating, snow blower, lawn mower and even the chain saw is electric!
