
Abstract:
Cities are the nexus of human activity. They have been the transforming centres of human habitation for milenia. Today cities are undergoing fundamental changes being enabled by advanced information and communications technologies. The world is moving from Transactional Cities to Smart Cities. In this talk we will explore the meaning of what Smart Cities are and why this is important.
Bio:
Peter MacKinnon, is currently a management consultant and academic affiliated with uOttawa having had a preceding career as a scientist, business executive, entrepreneur, bureaucrat, and diplomat. He has been involved in what is called Smart Cities since the mid-1990s. He is also a pioneer in a number of technologies applicable to Smart Cities such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data
