How can measures of true progress practically help to build a better world? For two decades, Ronald Colman worked hands-on with three governments to adopt measures that go beyond GDP and to lay the foundations of a new economic system. (What Really Counts: The Case for a Sustainable and Equitable Economy, Columbia University Press, 2021). Chronicling his path from Nova Scotia to New Zealand to Bhutan to the United Nations, Ron will detail the major obstacles faced on that journey and suggest how they can be overcome.
Biography:
Ronald Colman, Ph.D, is the founder of GPI Atlantic, a nonprofit research group that built an index of wellbeing and sustainable development in Nova Scotia. He worked for ten years in Bhutan and assisted its government in bringing the case for a new global economic paradigm to the United Nations. His work is outlined in Ronald Colman, What Really Counts: The Case for a Sustainable and Equitable Economy, Columbia University Press, 2021.
