In this presentation the overall impact of the tourism sector and of efforts to defuse its worst impacts and enhance any positive contributions it can make to global ecological preservation are addressed. In many respects the tourism industry, while a contributor to global warming, is one of the sectors most vulnerable to climate change. As a result, the industry is often responsive to potential climate change. Most of its actions are focused on mitigation and on risk management for its own assets. In many instances the industry has also shown leadership in protection of key ecological assets and fragile cultural communities.
