Dr. Drew Wilson, CACOR chairman at the time, introduced members of a panel who were to discuss Solutions for the World Problematique: The Element of Hope.
Dr. Wilson first reviewed the conclusions of the previous year’s symposium (Solutions for the World Problematique: First Steps Towards Solutions).
Andy Clarke spoke about an approaching world food crisis.
John Milne discussed the great challenge of getting appropriate coverage of environmental issues in the media.

These Proceedings contain several articles about the Panel Discussion in the 1995 symposium, and a report was apparently prepared by Jane Dougan, though I have not found that document. Here are the main points Drew Wilson made about that meeting. Ed.
- There was confusion about whether the Problematique was about the survival of a diversity of life on Earth, human survival, or survival of human civilization.
- Change requires shift in perceptions at the macro and micro levels, and links to experience.
- Time and change are ever-present constraints, and there was quite a lot of fear.
- A new vision was seen as needed, one that would allow us to live appropriately within our time and place. That would require boldness, bravery, courage, integrity, resilience, ability to imagine new horizons, and the humility to recognize the boundaries that exist, including those of our own creation.
- A sense that CACOR ought to be more active was developing at the time, getting ‘on the record’ with its collective views.
