The Global Systems Centre.
An Idea Whose Time Has Come.
1999 Series 2 Number 1 Page 29
This article was in the form of an interview by the editor of the Proceedings, Dr. John Maskell, with proponents of the Centre.* These proponents were about a dozen members of CACOR. Rob Hoffman and Bert McInnis were the leads.
The Centre was supposed to provide the means to understand the differences between reductionist thinking and systems thinking, to promote the use of systems thinking, and to provide opportunities to learn about and develop systems thinking. The idea was for the Centre to exist virtually on the internet.
At the time of publication, members of the organizing group felt that they had gone as far as they could using volunteers and they needed funding. They were asking fellow members of CACOR whether it was the right time for them to contribute funds to continue development of the concept.

* In April 2025, there were a couple of passing references to the Centre on the CACOR website, but I could not locate the Centre, if it ever existed, elsewhere on the internet. There is, however, a Global Systems Institute at the U of Exeter, England (see link below). The Institute does research on sustainability and has some interesting material. Ed.
