Wilfred Lockett provided his opening statement as a panel member for a seminar in the Victoria University World Leadership Programme in November 1995. This seminar was entitled The First Global Revolution, which was the title of a Club of Rome publication in 1991.
He argued that the real revolution was at the end of the last glacial cycle, about 12,000 years ago, when humans began using and expanding technology.
He mentioned the developed world as being in ‘overshoot.’ He also mentioned that the developing world had much to teach the developed world about how to be poor.
