In August 2024, CACOR member Claude Buettner made these observations about the rising levels of greenhouse gas in our air. Some are in a quote from an American official, others in a video Claude made (Where Will the Excess Heat Go?), for which a link is attached. They are worthy of wide circulation and preservation for posterity. Ed.

Canadian Marshall McLuhan once famously said to an Australian audience, “Just as a country eventually gets the government it deserves, media eventually get the content they deserve.”
Perhaps this is a good place to share a clear statement from an obscure public 2021 report (sidebar on page 5 at the link below) from the US Office of the Director of Intelligence, “The current trajectory of growing global CO2 emissions would cause global temperatures—at 1.1˚C over pre-industrial levels now—to add 0.4 ˚C and cross the 1.5 ˚C threshold by about 2030, according to modeling from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and surpass 2˚C by around mid-century. Many of the physical effects are projected to increase in intensity, frequency, and speed.”

So, governments across the globe know what we know about our current path even if they don’t talk about it openly during their political processes. They get the timing wrong (Paul Beckwith and other climate experts openly declare that we passed the 1.5 ˚C mark already) although the report acknowledges the increase in speed of these physical effects. Perhaps, these issues will continue to play out regardless of who is in the White House but I feel pretty strongly there will be less foot dragging if it’s a Democrat.
Very Best Regards,
Claude Buettner
