[Bangladesh] is the ground zero of global warming. There is no question this is being caused primarily by human action. This is way out of natural variation. If you really want people in the West to understand the effect they are having, it is simple. From now on, we need to have a system where, for every 10,000 tonnes of carbon you emit, you have to take a Bangladeshi family to live with you. It is your responsibility.

Applying this formula, Canada’s reported 2018 emissions of 729 Mt CO2 would translate into the immigration of 73,000 families from Bangladesh each year. With an average household size of 4 in 2016, in rounded numbers that would be 300,000 Bangladeshi people each year, including 50,000 refugees. Canada does not appear to take the moral dimension of global heating into account.
