But when you cannot measure it,
when you cannot express it in numbers,
your knowledge is of a meagre and unsatisfactory kind.

Kelvin would also have estimated the accuracy and precision of the numbers he used. In contrast, most of the numbers reported by public health authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic mean very little, if anything at all, because no statistical estimates are provided. Canada is flying by the seat of its pants without a working compass.
