Greenland is melting faster [even] than expected
We knew climate change was melting Greenland’s glaciers, but new data shows things are even worse than we thought.
Many scientists believe that given a 2C temperature rise, all the Greenland ice will melt. If that were to happen, global sea levels would rise 7.2 m (24 ft), from Greenland alone.
NASA data shows climate change is threatening more glaciers than we thought
But wait, there’s more: There are now wildfires across great swaths in the northern latitudes of Canada, Alaska and Siberia. This is likely the worst year in recent history. Carbon and CO2 released this way is not easily re-sequestered; these fires are not ecologically neutral.
I will leave this post up for a generous period–please take the time to follow the links and absorb their import–zj.
