Topic: The Politics of the Climate Crisis
Time: Mar 17, 2021 01:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada
Speaker: Dr. Gerald Kutney
Summary: The Politics of the Climate Crisis – The science of climate change was far enough advanced that governments should have introduced policies to reduce GHG emissions by the late 1980s; yet, here we stand decades later, and little has been done, especially in the most powerful democracy in the world. The question is why? Ideology is a fundamental factor, but it does not explain it all; the other factor was corporate propaganda which stoked the fires of right-wing ideology. How do we get out of this mess? There is little chance for changing ideology, but we can fight back against the propaganda.
