Biography
Ralph Torrie has been engaged in the area of sustainable energy futures since the late 1970’s when he had a leadership role in Canada’s long-range study of the potential for conservation and renewable energy. Years later, he produced a low-carbon scenario analysis for Canada, the first of its kind. In the 1990’s he articulated the rationale and built the strategic framework for local action on climate change that is now widely used throughout the world. In addition to his consulting practice, he served as a senior executive of two publicly traded management consulting firms. He is currently research director of Corporate Knights, a research and publishing organization that produces rankings, financial product ratings and investor guidance on corporate sustainability performance.
Ralph lives in his hometown of Cobourg, Ontario with his partner Judy Smith. He has two young grandsons, and gardens.
