Speaker: Mike Fletcher
Topic: City of Ottawa: Emissions Reduction Inventory and Community Energy Planning.
Time: Jul 12, 2023 13:30 Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Summary:
The key to making progress on many problems is to do the math. Ottawa’s climate strategy does just that and it shows that almost half of our community’s greenhouse gas emissions come from heating our buildings and domestic hot water. Eliminating these emissions is a tough challenge as much of our built environment was constructed before Net Zero was a concept. Mike will discuss the magnitude of this problem and the tools we have to reduce emissions in this sector.

Mike lives near Munster with his partner, daughter, dog, food garden, solar panels, and a ground source heat pump; he loves them all in an order he doesn’t disclose.
