Topic: Vehicle to Grid Integration–A Great Solution to Store Renewable Energy
Time: Jun 29, 2022 13:30 Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Summary:
As the number of EVs increases, they represent a unique challenge to integrate them into the grid in a way that avoids costly upgrades. Although wind and solar are the cheapest sources of electricity production, they are intermittent and require a storage solution that will allow the grid to store energy for use during peak demand periods. Could EV batteries be the bridge that fills the gap and turns a challenge into an opportunity?
Biography:
Raymond’s concern for environmental issues convinced him to purchase an electric vehicle (EV) over 8 years ago which led him to become President of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO). Since retirement from an IT strategy consulting career, Raymond has spent much of his time researching and advocating for EVs of all sizes from light duty to medium and heavy-duty vehicles. This led to a successful campaign to get OC Transpo to transition to e-buses. Raymond has attended Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project Leadership Corps and holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa.
