Speaker: Dr. Michael Gilbertson
Subject: Human Health Impacts of Toxic Chemicals in the Air and Water around Us.
Time: Feb 21, 2024 at 13:30 Eastern Time
Summary:
During the past eighty years, human populations have become progressively exposed to a myriad of man-made chemicals, some of which are teratogenic. Initial sentinel events of environmental teratogens appeared in wildlife about fifty years ago. Some teratogens act during critical developmental windows of time through receptor systems at very low doses. There is increasing evidence that human populations are experiencing epidemics and pandemics of irreversible developmental diseases and conditions, caused by these exposures resulting in significant costs to societies around the world, and indicating widespread administrative failure of health authorities to control certain chemicals under the prevailing political-economic ideology of neoliberalism.
