Dear CACOR Members:
It is with great shock and sadness that I share with you that our friend and CACOR Board Member Yasmin Asgarali died suddenly late last week.
When Yasmin who was expected, failed to appear at the CACOR lunch, friends contacted the police as they were worried about her. On Friday she was found dead (heart attack) in her residence. Her previous husband, Mark is trying to find out more from the coroner’s office and I will share with you if there is an update. There will likely be a funeral later next week – possibly mid-week. Details to follow as I know more.
In the short time I knew Yasmin, I found her to bring a sweet presence and positive presence to all that she tackled. She was deeply involved in many aspects of life in Ottawa and will be sorely missed by her many friends and colleagues.
I am sorry to need to convey this very sad news to each of you.
May I take a moment to wish all of you
Peace amid all storms.
David Pollock, on behalf of the CACOR Board of Directors
(editorial addition: Her death was Tuesday night 18 February. There was a Muslim ceremony in the morning of 25 February and another that same evening both well supported by CACOR members. A celebration of life is planned sometime in the next two weeks but details are still being developed. Art)
