Catherine McKenna on the Oilsands.
Ms. Catherine McKenna was the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change for the Government of Canada from 2015 to 2019.
In this essay, she reveals what she has come to understand about the fossil fuel industry, and the so-called oilsands sector in particular, since leaving government. It was originally published in The Toronto Star.
Suffice to say, Ms. McKenna is not impressed.

[Note: anyone who has ever stuck his or her hands into the sands or the bitumen extracted from it will know it is more like tar than oil. Even the former Premier of Alberta, Peter Lougheed, called them tarsands. Working with them is a very dirty business. Ed.]
