Battery projects beat gas plants in Ontario’s latest power auction as the province secured 640 megawatts (MW) of new storage capacity to help meet growing electricity demand.
Three battery storage projects were selected through the province’s second Long-Term Request for Proposals (LT2), a process designed to secure new electricity resources at the lowest possible cost, Ontario’s ministry of energy and mines announced Friday.
