13:32:57 From Richard van der Jagt to Everyone: how much does it cost to join OREC? 13:33:37 From Dick Bakker to Everyone: $100 for Membership share 13:33:54 From Richard van der Jagt to Everyone: what is usual ROI? 13:08:24 From John Kirkwood to Everyone: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1MJ_KSPcNm2ljmt3ssDGmLhHyqRV6bzR4uw9ofGd2Op8/edit?usp=sharing 13:38:20 From David Head to Everyone: Q What does it mean and what is involved for another organization to associate itself with OREC 13:46:48 From Art Hunter - CACOR to Everyone: (Q) I have a question on Virtual Power Plants 13:47:03 From Geoff Strong to Everyone: Your Ottawa area renewables totalled just under 3400 kw. What is the total electric requirement for Ottawa area? 13:49:35 From Phil Reilly to Everyone: Q: Info on transferring ownership of our Micro-fit and a new contract when the current one terminates. 13:53:26 From Geoff Strong to Art Hunter - CACOR (direct message): Art, are you tied in to the OREX network? (Ed: Yes ) 13:57:22 From Dick Bakker - OREC to Everyone: Hello Phil: re MicroFIt end of contract.... today there is no plan for recontracting. but we know the IESO is starting to consider what to do. We plan to tell them what we (and our members) can offer. OREC has 5 microfit projects, our members have about 100. OREC also has 15 medium to 500kw FIT contracts. these all combined.. with batteries added would provide a very useful virtual power plant service. which would be much more useful to the electricity grid than a simple recontracting of a solar system that can only export electricity when the sun is shining. For this reason we encourage every owner of a microFIT in Ontario to join OREC so we can represent us. John's description of the OREx Community eXchange is shows the data base of our member systems that can become the basis of such a Virtual Power Plant. (please note that today this is not allowed in this province... but is allowed in Texas, California, Europe etc.... it is immensely cheaper than our present bias of big nuclear. 14:08:50 From Nira Dookeran to Everyone: Q - can you explain more about how the virtual power projects work? 14:09:51 From Nira Dookeran to Everyone: Can you explain why the Ontario Energy rebate exists? And pros and cons of it? 14:28:35 From Ted Manning to Everyone: We were discouraged from looking at setting up any exchange . we were told we had to pay for the wires (most of the money I now pay at my cottage for very limited power for six months per year. Even when my neighbour :borrowed" some power from me when he was building a new house he wastold he had to pay for wires even when they had not put them in to his cotrage. I am now considering going fully off the grid and coping with a couple of solar panels for my microwave etc from May to 14:28:43 From Ted Manning to Everyone: OOctober. 14:38:55 From Dick Bakker - OREC to Everyone: The Ontario electricity rebate exists for the political reason of showing consumers a lower cost of electricity than is the truth. No other reason. very few people look closely at their electricity bill, only the total price 14:58:12 From Richard van der Jagt to Everyone: great idea to write up a one page summary of the benefits of membership and the benefits of investing. What is the ROI? 14:59:03 From Dick Bakker - OREC to Everyone: Richard I will answer the ROI.... ask me please 15:11:02 From Richard van der Jagt to Everyone: Suggest writing an article in the Hill Times 15:12:24 From Richard van der Jagt to Art Hunter - CACOR (direct message): that decision needs to go to the board 15:13:29 From Dick Bakker - OREC to Everyone: Claude... there is a pod cast that comes from Minnesota that talks a lot about renewable energy coops called Local Energy Rules.... It is wonderful...
