Dr. Rennie Whitehead saw two main drivers of the need to replace fossil fuels (especially oil) as energy sources for humanity: pollution from their use and the eventual (indeed impending) end to inexpensive supplies of the materials. He felt it was time for a formal report, through a global information centre, to get this imperative into the common knowledge.
