SUMMARY:CACOR Live | John Gilmour | Education for Hope | 20 May 2026 13:30 EST
DESCRIPTION:CACOR Members and Associates are invited to the following CACOR Live presentation: \nSpeaker: John Gilmour \nSubject: Education for Hope \nTime: 20 May 2026 13:30 Eastern Time (US and Canada) \n(This presentation will be recorded and posted on our public YouTube channel within 48 hours afterwards!) \nMembers can pick up the live connection (Zoom) information at:  Canadian Association for the Club of Rome – CACOR Live: John Gilmour – Education for Hope \nNot a member yet? Click HERE to join or get more details on benefits. \n  \n \nSummary: \n“Education for Hope” is an emerging global movement that responds directly to what Aurelio Peccei described as the human gap – the gap between the complexity of the world we have created and our current level of consciousness\, compassion and collective responsibility.  It draws on the Ubuntu philosophy of Africa – “the village is the school” – and aligns with the Club of Rome’s long-standing call for human-centred transformation\, from The Limits to Growth to The Fifth Element\, which identified raised consciousness as the integrating force for change.  While there are “limits to growth\,” there are no limits to the growth of human consciousness\, solidarity and hope. \nBiography: \nJohn is a social entrepreneurial activist who has spent decades researching\, piloting and scaling holistic educational approaches for children living on the margins in South Africa. He brings this lived experience together with his founding roles in organisations dedicated to reshaping educational systems and possibilities. \nLinks: \nCanadian Association of the Club of Rome (CACOR) homepage https://canadiancor.com/ \nCACOR YouTube www.youtube.com/@canadianassociationforthec7885 \n  \nAdministration: \n–  The CACOR Sponsor Ted Manning \n–  Please invite friends and colleagues. \n–  One brief question at a time\, please.   Others are waiting. \n–  DO NOT post these credentials on social media. \n– Suggestions for future speakers are solicited.  Wednesdays starting on 24 June 2026 are available. \nAll future CACOR Live speakers presently scheduled: \nCACOR Live Schedule – Canadian Association for the Club of Rome \n

SUMMARY:CACOR Live | David Stocks | Why do poor countries stay poor? The solution is simple but faces strong resistance | 27 May 2026 13:30 EST
DESCRIPTION:CACOR Members and Associates are invited to the following CACOR Live presentation: \nSpeaker:  David Stocks \nSubject:   Why do poor countries stay poor? The solution is simple but faces strong resistance \nTime: 27 May 2026 13:30 Eastern Time (US and Canada) \n(This presentation will be recorded and posted on our public YouTube channel within 48 hours afterwards!) \nMembers can pick up the live connection (Zoom) information at:  Canadian Association for the Club of Rome – CACOR Live: David Stocks – Why do poor countries stay poor? \nNot a member yet? Click HERE to join or get more details on benefits. \n \nSummary: \nThrough work in Rotary\, David became familiar with Malawi – a poor country in southern Africa. The Malawian people are just as intelligent and hard-working as Canadians. The country is beautiful and rich in many ways. However\, Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. Why? \n\nBy studying this question\, David has learned how the accounting system for international trade has trapped poor countries in poverty by legal methods of lying\, cheating\, and immoral greed. \nBiography: \nDavid graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in Electrical Engineering. His career included service with the Army\, IBM\, several small businesses\, and two large consulting companies. \n\nDavid facilitates the development of long-term strategies for client organizations\, including approaches for changing an organization from its current condition to its desired condition. He builds informed consensus in teams of people who are striving to achieve worthwhile outcomes. \nLinks: \nCanadian Association of the Club of Rome (CACOR) homepage https://canadiancor.com/ \nCACOR YouTube www.youtube.com/@canadianassociationforthec7885 \n  \nAdministration: \n–  The CACOR Sponsor Art Hunter \n–  Please invite friends and colleagues. \n–  One brief question at a time\, please.   Others are waiting. \n–  DO NOT post these credentials on social media. \n– Suggestions for future speakers are solicited.  Wednesdays starting on 22 July 2026 are available. \nAll future CACOR Live speakers presently scheduled: \nCACOR Live Schedule – Canadian Association for the Club of Rome \n
