June Ottawa Lunch Meeting: Geology–Why should you care?

June 19 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm

$20
Hopewell

Speaker:
Jean Dougherty

Title:
Geology–Why should you care?

Abstract:
Most of us don’t think about how the geology may affect our lives.  We don’t think about what aspects of geology we might consider in decisions about where we want to live.  I intend to show: national climate change issues through a geologic lens; and how local geology impacts on daily life, using Ottawa’s setting as an example.

About the speaker:
After an exciting and fulfilling career of over 35 years in paleontology with the Geological Survey of Canada, Jean retired to spend more time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She has been active in her community, serving on several boards, as a union steward for the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada ending as the chief steward for Natural Resources Canada, as a soccer coach, and a karate instructor for children.
