As the fossil age ends, energy debates are often framed as a battle between hard headed “realists” and dreamy “idealists.” This talk suggests a different lens: one need not be foolish to deny the post fossil future, nor a genius to imagine it. Drawing on Thomas Kuhn, Club of Rome thinking and new Climate Dollars results, it presents Canada’s electrified, renewably powered grid as a navigator’s report from beyond the horizon, and uses systems level biomimicry to ask whether our infrastructures will behave more like resilient ecosystems or brittle machines — and whether, at century’s end, we chose Prometheus’ fire or Demeter’s harvest.
